Less visits, and time constraints on HMRC staff, mean you cannot rely on them for a clean bill of health.
You don’t want an assessment plus interest if you’ve erred in their favour, and a retrospective refund (if you’re lucky) with no interest, is hardly cost-effective.
HMRC’s National Advice Service has it’s advantages, but are you confident that a phone call will address your issues effectively.
